Alexandra Schober Scores USATF National Officiating Grant!

3/14/2017

The Adirondack Association, USATF, and the Adirondack Officials Committee (AOC) are proud to announce that Alexandra Schober, a three-year certified USATF official, has won a Young Officials Travel Grant from the National Officials Committee for the 2017 calendar year.

The National Officials Committee (NOC) has been concerned about the number of young officials who are not able to travel to officiate USATF national championship meets because of associated costs. The NOC has agreed to financially assist fifteen younger officials who would like to serve at National Championships in 2017, and Alex was chosen to be among this select group. Ms. Schober will be attending the Junior Olympic Cross Country Championship on December 9th in Tallahassee, Florida.

Alex, who originally
hails from Rochester, NY, currently lives in Albany, NY. She is a graduate of the University at Albany, and is nearing completion of doctoral studies at Albany Medical School in the neurosciences field. Notwithstanding her busy schedule, she currently serves the AOC as an officer in her capacity as Secretary. AOC Chair Steve George has indicated that "The Adirondack Association official’s organization is very proud to have Alex chosen to receive this stipend. The grant will enable her to work at a championship-level event outside of our area. This exposure and experience will be used to train other officials within our organization."
