Merlis Wins Breakneck Point Trail Marathon, Qualifies for US National Team

The
2022 Breakneck Point Trail 40K
was held on Saturday, April 30th in Beacon, New York, The race involves technical and steep pitches including the signature Breakneck Point that at points requires climbing and tolerance of exposure, technical stretches of footing, and significant elevation gain and loss totaling almost 9,000 feet. This year, it served as a qualifying event for the 2022 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand November 4-6, 2022.
Michelle Merlis
, 33, of Albany won the women's race with a time of 5:26:53, the second fastest women's result in race history. Her victory earns her a spot on the US National Team competing at Worlds in November. Congratulations Michelle on this tremendous accomplishment and we look forward to watching you represent the Adirondack Association and United States in Thailand!
